As we know, Savar is so disaster prone area for consequently the stock of open spaces has been declining day by day with the increase of population at an alarming rate. SEEP Proyash II address the urban risk reduction and vulnerabilities associated with Savar municipality, Dhaka- 2340. Recently I visited a women’s group at the Ward No.9, Genda Chapra Masjid of, Khalek Sorok of Savar municipality under SEEP Proyash II project area. The women’s group namely “Aparajita- Never be Defeated” was formed under the project to raise their awareness on risk reduction. There I found Kalima Akhter, Age 40, she is a home maker and also an almsgiving homeopathic doctor. While talking to her, she shared that her home district is Manikgonj, in the 1994 at the age of 14 she came here as a bride. She taught the basic homeopathy from her father-in-law than she completed the course from Farmgate Federal Homeopathy Training Center. Besides of her this charitable work she also do some volunteer work for her community. She mentioned that when she was a newly bride, in the rainy season all the sewerage line gets stuck with wastage and it created an extremely unhygienic situation for the community which was the reason for waterborne diseases, where she and her father-in-law attend the patients for charity. She also involved with volunteer workshop at Savar Pouroshova where they help very poor people student and children by donate money.
