“We are living in a culture where the voices of children remain unheard, often treated with disgrace. Writing is a way to express our feelings of hope, joy, anxiety and uncertainty. When I share my feelings through writing, it makes me feel better. But writing is not an easy task; it needs motivation to kick off the journey.” said Kuasha, Child Journalist of Savar. “My recognition as Child Journalist not only gives me an identity but also an inspiration to capture the real scenario of my city through creative writing.” she added. Making communities resilient to urban risks and hazards is a priority to PROYASH II project of Save the Children in Bangladesh. Historically children are seen as passive victims of disasters. They also lack in scopes to equip themselves with proper knowledge on urban risks and mitigation measures. The initiative of Child and Youth Journalism as a part of Knowledge Hub gives them a strong platform not only to learn and share as an opinion leader but to act with the acquired knowledge.
