Since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 on March 8, 2020, a total of 3772 people are infected among which 120 died on April 23, 2020 in Bangladesh, according to IEDCR. In this time of health crisis; and economic slowdown due to imposed lockdown, when the local government is facing the challenge to tackle the pandemic with inadequate resource, Urban Community Volunteers are rising to the circumstance. A total number of 150 UCVs are working on urban risk reduction in Savar under Proyash-II project, funded by Save the Children and C&A Foundation and implemented by SEEP.
UCVs were engaged with SEEP in building awareness on Covid-19 among community and Cash Transfer initiative. Besides, they have been coordinating with Savar Upazila, Savar Municipality, WDMC and others private organizations amid the present crisis.
