We are living in an era where mosquitoes were the reasons of flight delay, city dwellers were being forced to use mosquito nets during the day time and candidate of public exams had to study sitting under a mosquito net! Yes! The little insect has been affecting the city life a lot piercing the skin through its 2 mm proboscis, a long pointed mouth part. There are 2,276 bighas of water bodies under Dhaka North City Corporation whereas Ward # 5 constitutes around 112 bighas of water bodies in its vicinity. 90 percent of the water ways has already been using for makeshift houses even the dumping sites of garbage to the community people. Mosquitoes likely to lay eggs in the stagnant water is the only reason of mosquitos’ infestation.
