Project Results/ Objective • To strengthen climate resilience of disadvantaged urban communities in their ability to minimize, withstand and bounce back from negative physical, social, and environmental impacts of flooding and waterlogging.
• To make the target communities as well as the surrounding communities of Shyampur more resilient to the multiple impacts of climate change.
• To develop concrete tools and solutions to strengthen the climate resilience of disadvantaged urban communities

Project in briefPlan International Bangladesh in partnering with Social and Economic Enhancement Programme (SEEP) is implementing “Community Driven Climate Adaptation” Project in Shyampur area under Dhaka South City Corporation. The project is funded by Nordic Climate Fund (NCF), being implemented with the overall management support of Plan Denmark International where ARUP International Development is working as technical partner. The project aimed at the co-creation and implementation of climate change adaptation solutions in Dhaka’s Rail Line Slum and Match Colony in order to make the community more resilient to the multiple impacts of climate change, particularly flooding and water logging. The overall objective of the project is to strengthen climate resilience of disadvantaged urban communities in their ability to minimize, withstand and bounce back from negative physical, social, and environmental impacts of flooding and waterlogging by making the target communities as well as the surrounding communities of Shyampur more resilient to the multiple impacts of climate change and developing concrete tools and solutions to strengthen the climate resilience of disadvantaged urban communities. The project primary target communities are Match colony and Rail Line slum totally 7000 inhabitants located in Shaympur a slum area at the outskirt of Dhaka. The project is implementing focusing five solution such as Street Upgradation, Monitoring Portable water, Smart Community, Waste Management and Flood Proof Hosing.
